- First up, my favorite city in the world, Oakland, celebrates its 160th birthday this year! If you're ever in the area, you'll find some nice places to visit, but as this link shows, maps may be hard to find.
- Speaking of Oakland, CA, the beer scene out here has really exploded lately! (And I'm not even a beer guy!) I tend to enjoy a nice glass of red wine, but this year, my taste buds have been opening up thanks to Oakland bars.
- So, we spent a fun weekend in Palm Springs last week and stayed in a beautiful Alexander house. But I wonder if we can stay here, next time?
- I'll admit it... never was a Herman's Hermits fan. But here are 10 reasons why I may have to give them another chance.
- A Frank Lloyd Wright film in San Rafael this Sunday? Well, there go any spring-cleaning plans!
- For the lovers of Ivy style, a nice little interview with Talk Ivey's Russell Street.
- An excellent piece on things to think about when the time comes for you to invest in having a shirt made. It's all about the details!
- Great clothes and great music come together in this footage of The Creation!
- You know what's weird? Standing in line at the check-out counter of your local market and staring at a photo of Steve Marriott gracing the cover of Mojo magazine next to the candy rack. Seems other people are witnessing this as well!
- Um, Don Cheadle working on a Miles Davis biopic? Let's hope the majority of it is set prior to the 1970s! (For the style aspect, that is.)
- Sam and Dave didn't just cut great music on Stax, y'know. Here's one of my fave tunes from them prior to that era.
That's it for today. Have a great weekend!
...and for some lighthearted 60's cinematic fun, Herman's Hermits "Mrs. Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter" is full of whimsy, humor, and some gorgeous dolly birds.
ReplyDeleteReally enjoy going through these round-ups. Thanks a lot.
